Gorakhpur, December 10, 2025: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday urged citizens to remain vigilant against those attempting to divide the nation along caste, regional, or linguistic lines, comparing such forces to historical traitors like Jaichand and Mir Jafar. Speaking at the inauguration of India’s first auditorium named after the country’s first Chief of Defence Staff, General Bipin Rawat, at Sainik School Gorakhpur, the CM cautioned that leaders who prioritize personal gains over national welfare weaken the country while amassing wealth and assets abroad. Addressing the audience, Yogi said that temporary incentives based on caste or regional identity cannot bring lasting progress. “True development comes through unity, not division,” he stressed. During the event, he unveiled a statue of General Rawat on his fourth death anniversary and released a booklet chronicling the life of the late CDS. The statue has been installed by the GBR Memorial Foundation of India, which also contributed to the auditorium project. The CM encouraged citizens to adopt Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Panch Pran’ as guiding principles for life, describing Gen Rawat as a warrior wholly devoted to these national pledges. Yogi recalled the Prime Minister’s vision shared during Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, urging people to imagine the India they aspire to see in 2047. “No true Indian would want a weak or insecure nation. A genuine Indian desires a strong, self-reliant, and developed country,” he said. On the first pran, Yogi emphasized honoring India’s civilizational heritage and taking pride in national heroes such as Lord Rama, Lord Krishna, Maharana Pratap, Chhatrapati Shivaji, Guru Gobind Singh, and Rani Lakshmibai. The second pran, ending colonial mindsets, called for valuing Indian achievements over foreign accolades. “Why praise Alexander when our heroes are Maharana Pratap, Veer Shivaji, Gen Bipin Rawat, and Param Vir Chakra awardees?” he remarked. Speaking on the third pran, the CM highlighted the sacrifices of soldiers, paramilitary personnel, and police forces, stressing that one individual’s mistake cannot tarnish the reputation of an entire force. The fourth pran, social unity, underscores cultivating a strong Indian identity, citing BR Ambedkar: “My first and last identity is that of an Indian.” The fifth pran focuses on citizens’ duties, with Yogi noting that post-Independence discussions often overemphasized rights while ignoring responsibilities, highlighting Gen Rawat’s unwavering commitment to duty even in adversity. Yogi also criticized militant trade unionism, recalling the shutdown of the Gorakhpur fertilizer plant in 1990, which took two decades to revive. Today, the plant operates at three times its previous capacity. The CM praised the introduction of reservation for girls in Sainik Schools in 2018, noting that 310 cadets, including 75 girls, are currently enrolled at Gorakhpur Sainik School. The event featured speeches by Assam Rifles DG Lt Gen Vikas Lakhera, who praised Gen Rawat as a fearless and compassionate leader, and former Air Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria, chairperson of GBR Memorial Foundation, who said the auditorium will inspire future generations. Gorakhpur Mayor Manglesh Srivastava also addressed the gathering. Students performed patriotic songs, and Gen Rawat’s daughters, Kritika and Tarini Rawat, were honored with mementoes and shawls. Through his remarks and the inauguration ceremony, CM Yogi reinforced the message of national unity, discipline, and respect for those who serve the country, while paying tribute to the legacy of General Bipin Rawat.
