UPSC CSE 2026 Results: Lucknow Candidates Shine as Vimal Kumar Secures 107th Rank
Lucknow | 6 March 2026 The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on Friday announced the final results of the Civil Services Examination 2026, bringing proud moments for many aspirants across the country. A total of 958 candidates have been selected in this year’s examination. Among them, several students from Lucknow have achieved notable success. Aspirants can check their results on the official UPSC website. The success of these candidates has also highlighted the contribution of the Uttar Pradesh government’s Abhyudaya coaching initiative run by the Social Welfare Department, which supports students preparing for competitive examinations. One of the standout achievers from Lucknow is Vimal Kumar, who secured the 107th All India Rank. Vimal had been preparing while staying at Bhagidari Bhavan in Gomti Nagar. Originally from Chandemau village in the Gurubaksh Post area of Raebareli district, Vimal completed his B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Delhi. He first appeared for the civil services examination in 2021 but could not clear the preliminary stage. However, he continued his efforts and finally secured the 107th rank in his fifth attempt. Mathematics was his optional subject. Vimal also shared that frequent electricity problems in his village affected his studies in the early years. His father Ram Dev is a farmer and his mother Siyawati is a homemaker, and despite limited educational backgrounds, they supported his dream of becoming an IAS officer. Another successful candidate from the Abhyudaya coaching programme is Vipin Dev Yadav, who secured the 316th rank. Vipin, originally from the Tanda tehsil of Ambedkar Nagar district, completed his B.Sc. from University of Allahabad. During his preparation, he also taught aspirants preparing for the UPPCS Mains 2024 examination at Bhagidari Bhavan in Gomti Nagar for nearly a year. He said that teaching helped strengthen his own preparation as well. Vipin emphasised that solving previous years’ question papers, following the commission’s syllabus closely and focusing on current affairs played an important role in his success. He also credited his brother Indradev Yadav for supporting him throughout his preparation journey. Apart from them, several other aspirants from the programme also secured ranks in the examination. Adarsh Pandey achieved the 347th rank, Mansi secured the 444th rank, Mahesh Jaiswal obtained the 590th rank, Aditi Singh ranked 859th, and Tanisha Singh secured the 930th rank. According to the UPSC notification, out of the 958 selected candidates, 317 belong to the General category, 104 from the EWS category, 306 from the OBC category, 158 from the SC category and 73 from the ST category. The results have brought pride to the state and have also inspired many young aspirants preparing for future civil services examinations.
