New Delhi | September 29, 2025 The four-day World Food India 2025 summit concluded on Sunday at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, recording investment commitments worth over ₹1.02 lakh crore, a landmark achievement for India’s food processing sector. The global event was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, alongside Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev, Union Ministers Chirag Paswan and Prataprao Jadhav, and Minister of State Ravneet Singh. It brought together international leaders, policymakers, and industry innovators to discuss the future of food, agriculture, and sustainability. In his inaugural speech, PM Modi underscored India’s role as a trusted global supplier of food products, supported by its agricultural diversity, rising consumer demand, and robust government policies. He highlighted reforms such as 100% FDI in food processing, the Production Linked Incentive Scheme (PLI), and Mega Food Parks, which have created opportunities for domestic and foreign investors. To strengthen grassroots entrepreneurs, the Prime Minister released credit-linked subsidies worth ₹2,518 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) scheme, benefitting 26,000 small-scale processors. The summit recorded Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) exceeding ₹1.02 lakh crore, making it one of the largest ever investment commitments in India’s food processing history. The Ministry of Food Processing Industries also partnered with leading research bodies such as NIFTEM-T and NIFTEM-K, aiming to boost technology transfer, food fortification, nutraceuticals, and incubation for start-ups. A high-level CEO Roundtable, co-chaired by Union Ministers Nitin Gadkari and Chirag Paswan, saw participation from over 100 CEOs representing Indian and global companies. The discussions revolved around sustainable investments, biodegradable packaging, waste valorization, logistics reforms, and the blue economy as a new growth frontier. On the diplomatic front, government-to-government meetings deepened India’s food and agriculture ties with countries including Russia, Sri Lanka, Morocco, Maldives, Portugal, New Zealand, Zimbabwe, Uganda, Eswatini, Côte d’Ivoire, and Kuwait. These discussions explored joint ventures, trade opportunities, and technology sharing in food processing and agri-business. The event also hosted 40+ technical sessions covering themes such as pet food, plant-based foods, alcoholic beverages, specialty products, and nutraceuticals. The 3rd Global Food Regulators Summit emphasized digital risk management tools, next-generation regulatory skills, public-private partnerships, and strategies to address global health concerns like obesity and malnutrition. Parallel to the main event, the 24th India International Seafood Show was inaugurated by Union Minister Chirag Paswan. The showcase spotlighted India’s seafood export potential, featuring lectures, technical sessions, and buyer-seller meets to connect producers with global markets.
