New Delhi, October 24: The Department of Fisheries, operating under the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, has reported significant progress in its clean governance efforts during Phase 2 of the ongoing “Swachhata Hi Seva” campaign. The initiative, a key part of the government’s “Special Campaign 5.0,” aims to promote transparency, efficiency, and environmental responsibility across government offices. As of October 23, the Department has successfully resolved 82 per cent of public grievances, marking a major stride toward responsive and accountable administration. The campaign, which aligns with the broader national objective of ensuring citizen-centric governance, places strong emphasis on the swift disposal of pending matters. These include references received from Members of Parliament, the Prime Minister’s Office, VIPs, and various State Governments. The initiative also prioritizes timely attention to public grievances and appeals, ensuring that citizens’ concerns are addressed efficiently and effectively. Between October 2 and October 23, 2025, the Department of Fisheries carried out 45 out of its planned 50 cleanliness drives across various offices and facilities under its purview. During this period, 53 out of 65 identified grievances and appeals were successfully resolved, reflecting a consistent focus on improving administrative responsiveness. The Department also undertook measures to streamline record management by weeding out 113 obsolete physical files and reclaiming approximately 50 square feet of office space through the safe and systematic disposal of scrap materials, redundant papers, and e-waste. Officials noted that these cleanliness and organizational efficiency efforts are not merely symbolic but form part of a deeper cultural shift toward responsible governance and environmental stewardship. The Department has been introducing sustainable office practices, such as structured waste segregation, eco-friendly disposal systems, and reduced paper dependency. These practices have contributed to a noticeable improvement in workplace efficiency, cleanliness, and overall employee productivity. As part of its commitment to “Swachhata Hi Seva,” the Fisheries Department has also integrated technology to improve internal workflows and grievance tracking mechanisms. Enhanced digital documentation and grievance monitoring systems have reduced procedural delays and strengthened accountability across all administrative levels.
