New Delhi, Oct 24, 2025: A man from Goa has been arrested for allegedly duping a Delhi family of ₹1.10 crore by posing as the CEO of multiple companies and offering fake job opportunities and investment schemes on social media, police officials said on Friday. The accused, Kunal Satish Helkar, a resident of Maharashtra, is believed to have orchestrated a complex cyber fraud network using forged company documents, fake appointment letters, and fabricated online identities to defraud numerous victims. Authorities said Helkar created an illusion of legitimacy by impersonating reputed professionals and falsely claiming links with organizations such as UNESCO India. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Ankit Singh said the investigation began after Diksha Kanojia filed a complaint alleging that her family had been targeted by Helkar through false promises of employment, company partnerships, and lucrative investments. Police sources stated that Helkar first contacted the complainant through social media on February 20 last year, offering her a position as a Digital Associate News Editor with a monthly salary of ₹45,000. Helkar allegedly set up multiple fake entities, including Planner Media Group, Speak Community Network, and Vijaya Digital Corporation, to strengthen the credibility of his scheme. Using counterfeit appointment letters, receipts, and emails, he convinced the victim and her relatives to transfer large sums of money under pretexts such as internship fees, employment schemes, purchase of gadgets, and even allotment of DDA flats. Authorities said Helkar used professional networking platforms to identify and target educated individuals. He reportedly fabricated websites and official-looking documents to give the impression of legitimate operations. He even installed CCTV cameras at the complainant’s residence under the guise of security to monitor their activities and gain their trust. During the investigation, technical analysis of mobile numbers, email accounts, and bank transactions revealed an extensive web of digital manipulation. Police traced Helkar to Goa, where he was hiding. A team conducted a raid and arrested him, seizing two mobile phones, forged documents, fake DDA allotment emails, and financial instruments allegedly used in the scam. During interrogation, Helkar reportedly admitted to creating multiple fake corporate identities and defrauding the complainant’s family of over ₹1 crore. He was brought to Delhi after obtaining a transit remand from a local court in Goa. Authorities are now tracing the flow of the cheated funds, identifying possible accomplices, and verifying whether other victims were targeted in similar schemes. The case highlights the increasing sophistication of cyber fraud in India, where perpetrators exploit social media, professional networking sites, and digital tools to deceive and manipulate victims. Police have warned the public to remain cautious of online job offers and investment opportunities that appear too good to be true, urging verification of company credentials before making any financial commitments. The DCP emphasized that the investigation remains ongoing and that further arrests or leads may be forthcoming as authorities continue to unravel the full scope of Helkar’s operations.
