NCW Steps In After Brutal Murder of Agra HR Manager, Seeks Fast-Track Police Action
New Delhi | 30 January 2026 The National Commission for Women (NCW) has taken suo motu cognisance of the shocking murder of a 32-year-old HR manager in Agra and has directed the Uttar Pradesh Police to carry out a strict, time-bound investigation. The commission has asked the state’s Director General of Police to ensure strong action against the accused and submit a detailed report within five days. Condemning the crime in strong words, NCW chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar described the incident as extremely disturbing. In a statement, the commission said, "The National Commission for Women has taken suo motu cognisance of a deeply horrific and brutal murder of a 32-year-old woman in Agra. The alleged killing, involving extreme violence and dismemberment, is barbaric, reprehensible, and a grave violation of a woman's right to life, dignity and safety." The NCW further said it has written to the Uttar Pradesh DGP, calling for immediate and strict action. "The commission strongly condemns this heinous crime. In this regard, the hon'ble chairperson of the commission has written to the director general of police, Uttar Pradesh, directing strict and time-bound investigation, stringent action against the accused, and comprehensive support to the victim's family," the statement added. According to police, the victim, Minki Sharma, worked as an HR manager in a private company and was allegedly in a relationship with Vinay Singh, an accountant in the same firm. Singh reportedly wanted to marry her, but after she refused, an argument broke out. Police said he attacked her multiple times with a knife, killing her, and later dismembered the body before dumping the parts at different locations in the city. A case has been registered under Sections 103 and 238 of the BNS, and the knife and scooter used in the crime have been recovered.
