Malaysia | 7 Feb 2026 Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said that India has emerged as a “trusted partner for growth” on the global stage, pointing to recent trade agreements with major economies like the United States, the United Kingdom and what he described as the “mother of all deals” with the European Union. He made these remarks after arriving in Kuala Lumpur for a two-day visit to Malaysia, underlining how trust has become central to India’s international engagements. Addressing a community programme, PM Modi said, “Trust has become India’s strongest currency,” adding that India’s growing global partnerships clearly reflect this confidence. He noted that strong and reliable ties have helped India secure key trade deals across regions, strengthening economic cooperation and opening new opportunities for growth. The Prime Minister also praised the Indian diaspora in Malaysia, calling it a living bridge between the two nations. With nearly three million people of Indian origin living in Malaysia most of them of Tamil heritage he announced the opening of a new Indian consulate to further support the community and deepen people-to-people ties.
