Noida | 28 March 2026 Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the first phase of the Noida International Airport in Uttar Pradesh today, marking a major milestone in India’s aviation sector. Developed at an investment of around ₹11,200 crore under the Public–Private Partnership (PPP) model, the airport is expected to play a key role in strengthening infrastructure and connectivity in the National Capital Region (NCR). The Prime Minister will also visit the terminal building and address the public during the inauguration ceremony. The airport is designed to function as the second international gateway for the NCR, alongside the Indira Gandhi International Airport. In its first phase, the facility is expected to handle around 12 million passengers annually, with future expansion plans aiming to increase capacity to nearly 70 million passengers per year. It features a 3,900-metre runway capable of handling wide-body aircraft and is equipped with modern navigation and lighting systems to ensure smooth, round-the-clock operations in all weather conditions. In addition to passenger services, the airport includes a multi-modal cargo hub designed to handle over 2.5 lakh metric tonnes annually, with scope for significant expansion in the future. The cargo infrastructure features an integrated terminal, logistics zones, and a dedicated Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility spread across 40 acres, positioning the airport as an important node in global trade and supply chains. Strategically located along the Yamuna Expressway, the airport is planned as a multi-modal transport hub with seamless connectivity through road, rail, and metro networks. With a strong focus on sustainability, the project aims to operate as a net-zero emissions facility, combining energy-efficient systems with architectural elements inspired by traditional Indian design. The development is expected to drive economic growth, generate employment, and further strengthen India’s position as a global aviation hub.
