CM directs to set up 5,000 new sub health centers in July
The sub health centres will be established in all development blocks of 75 districts
More than 20,812 sub health centers are operating in the State
To strengthen the health infrastructure in Uttar Pradesh ahead of an anticipated third wave of Covid-19, CM Yogi Adityanath has directed to set up 5000 new sub health centres in all the development blocks of the 75 districts of the State in July.The CM has asked the Health Department to immediately take action in this regard.
“There is a need to increase the number of sub health centers at the block level. At present more than 20,812 sub health centers are operating in the state. 5,000 new sub health centers should be established in the month of July”, said the CM while addressing a high level review meeting.
The UP Government targets to have a total number of 32000 sub health centres in the State. With as many as 20, 812 already functional and the work of 5000 new will be completed in July, the State will have about 26,812 sub health centres in total. It is to be noted that sub health centres are established in those areas where there are no PHCs or CHCs.
As many as 3011 Primary Health Centres (PHCs), 592 Urban PHCS and 855 CHCs are already functional in the State. The Government of Uttar Pradesh has been working towards effective COVID-19 management in rural areas by a sustained strengthening of the rural health infrastructure and through focussed public health measures.
The Chief Minister has decided to set up these health centres in order to provide quick medical aid and quality health facilities to the people, including disease prevention and health promotion.
The State has around 822 development blocks. “Intensifying the number of sub health centres will really be very helpful in providing health-care facilities to the residents, especially those who can’t afford the costly treatment in the private hospitals,” informed a health official.
These sub health centres will be staffed by at least one doctor, nurses and administrative support staff .
The Chief Minister has also directed the officials to take speedy action in relation to repair, functionalization, painting of premises, cleanliness and adequate availability of manpower in CHCs and PHCs of all the districts of the state. He has also asked to continuously monitor these centres.
