UP marches rapidly towards being Covid free as TPR dips to 0.05 percent
Lucknow, July 5, 2021
After a successful handling of the first wave of the Covid-19 pandemic, Uttar Pradesh is yet again emerging successful in eliminating its deadly second wave as the state logged fresh cases below the 130-mark for the third consecutive day.
Marching forward rapidly towards being Covid-19 free, Uttar Pradesh recorded merely 120 fresh COVID-19 cases, testifying success of numerous proactive measures adopted by the state government in limiting the transmission of virus in the densely populated state.
Implementing measures such as the intensive 'Trace, Test & Treat' and prevention through vaccination and Partial Corona Curfews to decimate the pandemic, the UP government worked with multipronged approach to minimise its devastating impact, as a result of which the positivity rate has slumped to 0.05 per cent, the lowest in the country.
Despite aggressive tracing and testing, Uttar Pradesh’s positivity rate - which shows the level of infections among people - has been registering a steady decline for several days indicating signs that the dangerous Covid wave is receding from the state.
Uttar Pradesh has also seen a drastic and consistent decline in the number of active cases by more than three lakh eight thousand in just a span of two months.
The Active Caseload in the most populous state has been reduced to nearly 2,000 pushing the Recovery Rate up to a remarkable 99 percent, while the percentage of active cases as against the total confirmed cases is just 0 per cent.
Uttar Pradesh crosses 5.90 crore COVID Tests
Ramping up of daily testing to detect the virus has helped in the fight against the second wave. True to the spirit of 'trace, test, and treat' policy, more than three lakh tests are being conducted every day in UP.
Emerging as a leader in conducting maximum COVID Tests, Uttar Pradesh has tested as many as 5,91,03,444 samples for the novel coronavirus infection so far.
UP Testing 34.6 samples per positive case
Following the guidelines issued by the World Health Organization, Uttar Pradesh adopted a ‘Go Far, Go Hard’ approach to reach the last mile within the state. On the scale of testing samples per positive case, 6.4 tests per positive case were conducted in Maharashtra, 11.5 in Karnataka, 8 in Kerala, 14 in Delhi, 12.8 in Tamil Nadu and 11.4 tests per positive case in Andhra Pradesh, whereas Uttar Pradesh has been able to conduct 34.6 tests per positive case.
In a bid to break the Covid Chain, the Chief Minister has also emphasised on intensifying Contact Tracing to enable early detection and treatment of covid patients.
“Contact tracing needs to be further improved to break the chain of infection. On confirmation of each positive case, at least 20-25 people who might have been in his direct contact will be traced and tested to enable early detection and treatment,” informed Amit Mohan Prasad, Additional Chief Secretary, Medical Health, on Monday.
In a big relief, none of the 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh reported more than 20 cases of the coronavirus infection in the last 24 hours.
As many as 38 districts reported no case of covid-19 infection in the last 24 hours, whereas 35 districts reported new cases in single-digits, indicating signs that the dangerous virus has been arrested up to a great extent. Only two districts (Lucknow and Prayagraj) reported cases in double digits.
