Ludhiana | September 26, 2025 In a shocking case of abuse of power, two Punjab Police officials, along with four accomplices, allegedly staged a fake raid in Noida, abducted three businessmen, and demanded a ransom of Rs 10 crore for their release. The case has since unraveled, with Khanna Police exposing the conspiracy and registering an FIR against the accused. According to officials, the incident occurred on the night of September 15 in Noida’s Sector 136. A group of six men barged into a call centre, claiming to be senior police officers conducting a raid. Among them were Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Kuldeep Singh and Head Constable Balwinder Singh, who allegedly introduced themselves as a Superintendent of Police (SP) and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP). Another accused, Gagandeep Singh alias Apple, posed as a Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG). The accused confiscated laptops and mobile phones from the premises and forcibly took three businessmen—Tarun Agrawal, Herat Shah, and Thurai Raj—into custody. They were made to sit in two black SUVs and driven overnight to Ludhiana, where they were held at a roadside eatery. Police investigations revealed that the accused initially demanded Rs 10 crore from the trio, threatening them with criminal charges. When negotiations failed, the ransom demand was gradually lowered to Rs 5 crore, then Rs 2 crore, and finally Rs 70 lakh. In addition to the ransom threats, the accused reportedly forced cryptocurrency transfers worth over Rs 4 lakh, coerced purchases of gift cards, and stole personal items including a mobile phone and a watch. Failing to extort the demanded sums, the accused attempted to legitimize their actions by producing the three men before Khanna Police, urging the cyber wing to register a case against them for allegedly running a fake call centre. However, investigators quickly identified inconsistencies in the story. “We found the claims about a fake call centre to be baseless. There was no evidence against the three men, and the narrative provided by the accused had several loopholes,” said DSP (Investigation) Mohit Singla of Khanna Police. Based on the findings, Khanna Police registered a case at the Cyber Crime Police Station against ASI Kuldeep Singh, Head Constable Balwinder Singh, and their accomplices—Gagandeep Singh alias Apple, Karandeep Singh, Mani, and an unidentified associate. They have been booked under sections 319 (cheating by personation), 140 (kidnapping), 3(5) (criminal act with common intention), and 318(4) (cheating) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Police confirmed that one accused, Karandeep, has already been arrested, while the others remain absconding. A search operation has been launched to apprehend them. The case has sparked outrage, as it involves serving police officials misusing their authority to carry out criminal activities. The victims, who were targeted under the guise of a law enforcement raid, have since been cleared of all allegations. Authorities say the investigation is ongoing and further arrests are expected. Punjab Cops Impersonate Seniors, Kidnap Three in Rs 10 Cr Racket Two Punjab Police officials, along with four accomplices, allegedly posed as senior officers to conduct a fake raid in Noida, abducting three businessmen and demanding Rs 10 crore for their release. The accused—ASI Kuldeep Singh, Head Constable Balwinder Singh, and others—drove the victims to Ludhiana and kept lowering the ransom demand when negotiations failed. They also forced cryptocurrency transfers, looted valuables, and later tried to frame the men for running a fake call centre. Khanna Police exposed the conspiracy, arrested one suspect, and booked the gang under multiple charges while others remain on the run.
