UP BLO Records Emotional Video Before Suicide, Urges Family to Take Care of Children
Moradabad | Dec 02, 2025 A tragic incident in Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, has left the community in shock after a Booth-Level Officer (BLO) and primary school headmaster, Sarvesh Singh (42), allegedly died by suicide at his residence in the Baheri area on Sunday morning. Before his death, Sarvesh recorded a 2-minute-40-second video in which he appeared visibly distressed, apologizing to his family and requesting that his children be cared for. In the video, Sarvesh breaks down in tears and says, “Mummy, please take care of my children… I have four young daughters… Please forgive me.” He also apologizes to his wife, Babli, explaining that he was unable to complete his election-related duties satisfactorily during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. He stressed that no one else was to blame for his struggles and expressed regret over not managing the workload properly. Babli told reporters that the video confirmed the immense pressure her husband was under due to SIR work. She added that she found the clip while checking his phone, as Sarvesh handled all official work personally and never allowed others to use his phone. The couple has four daughters, aged between one-and-a-half and eleven years, and lives with Sarvesh’s 65-year-old mother, Somwati Devi. His father had passed away years ago, and his younger brother, Pramod Kumar, works in Uttarakhand. Police recovered a note from Sarvesh’s home in which he mentioned feeling extremely stressed about not meeting SIR-related targets on time due to insufficient guidance. The note also indicated that his mental health was deteriorating and that two of his daughters were unwell, further adding to his distress. Authorities have confirmed that no one else is being held responsible for his death. Additional Superintendent of Police Kunwar Akash Singh said that the video circulating on social media is being investigated, while Moradabad District Magistrate Anuj Singh stated in a video message that Sarvesh had been performing his duties effectively. According to the DM, Sarvesh had completed the digitization of nearly 67% of the SIR enumeration forms and was close to finishing the remaining work. Family members have expressed grief and frustration over the tragedy. Sarvesh’s brother, Pramod, said that while visitors offered condolences and support, no concrete help had been provided to the family, particularly for the care of his four daughters. His mother, Somwati Devi, expressed sorrow over the impact of election-related stress on her son’s life, yet vowed to rebuild the family’s life. The incident highlights the pressures faced by government employees involved in election duties and raises concerns about mental health and support mechanisms. No FIR has been lodged yet, but authorities are aware of the circumstances, and an inquiry into the case is expected to follow.
