UP Man Arrested for Killing Wife and Two Daughters, Hiding Bodies Inside Home in Shamli
Meerut | December 17, 2025 In a shocking case of domestic violence, police in Uttar Pradesh’s Shamli district have arrested a 35-year-old man for allegedly killing his wife and two minor daughters and burying their bodies inside his house. The crime, which police described as extremely brutal, came to light nearly a week after the incident when the accused man’s father alerted authorities about the sudden disappearance of the victims. The accused, identified as Farooq, worked as a cook at wedding functions and lived in Garhi Daulat village under the Kandla police station area. He stayed with his wife Tahira, aged 32, and their five children. According to police, the murders took place on the night of December 10 but remained undiscovered for several days. Superintendent of Police Narendra Pratap Singh said the case surfaced after Farooq’s father grew suspicious when Tahira and two of her daughters, Afreen (14) and Sahreen (7), were missing for nearly six days. When questioned, Farooq reportedly told his father that his wife and daughters were staying in a rented house in Shamli. Unsatisfied with the explanation, his father approached the police and expressed fear that his son might have killed them. Police officials said Farooq was not on good terms with his parents and had limited contact with them. Acting on the complaint, the police took Farooq into custody for questioning. During interrogation, he allegedly confessed to killing his wife and daughters. According to the police version, Farooq told investigators that he had frequent arguments with Tahira, mainly over financial issues. About a month before the incident, the couple reportedly had a heated dispute after Tahira accused him of not providing enough money for household expenses and the children’s needs. Following the argument, she went to her parental home in Nara village of Muzaffarnagar. Police said Farooq claimed he was angered by the fact that Tahira had left the house without wearing a burqa. On the night of December 10, after she returned, he allegedly shot her dead inside their home. When their two daughters witnessed the act, he killed them as well to prevent them from raising an alarm, police said. After committing the murders, Farooq allegedly buried the bodies of his wife and daughters inside the house to hide the crime. Following his confession, police carried out an excavation at the residence, during which the bodies of all three victims were recovered. During questioning, Farooq also revealed that he had studied up to Class 5 at a madrasa before dropping out. Police said further investigation is underway to determine the sequence of events and recover evidence related to the weapon used in the crime. Tahira’s family members told police that she had been facing harassment and abuse for a long time. Her father alleged that several panchayat meetings—more than ten—had been held both in Garhi Daulat village and at their parental home in an attempt to resolve the disputes between the couple. However, due to social pressure, Tahira was repeatedly sent back to her husband’s house despite ongoing problems. Police have registered a case of murder and said strict legal action will be taken against the accused. Senior officials stated that statements from family members and neighbours are being recorded and forensic evidence is being collected to strengthen the case. The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, raising serious concerns about domestic violence and the need for timely intervention in cases of prolonged abuse. Authorities said the investigation is ongoing and more details will emerge as the probe progresses.
