Lucknow, Dec 20, 2025 With just a week left for the conclusion of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Uttar Pradesh, political parties are actively mobilising their workers to ensure no eligible voter is left out. The enumeration phase, which will end on December 26, has become a priority for all major parties including the BJP, Samajwadi Party, Bahujan Samaj Party, and Congress. The draft electoral rolls are scheduled to be published on December 31, followed by the claims and objections period running until January 30. At stake are nearly 2.96 crore voters whose names might be deleted if they are not properly verified during this SIR exercise. The Election Commission has instructed district election officers to check for deceased, shifted, and absent voters during the extended period. Booth Level Officers (BLOs) are being assisted by Booth Level Agents (BLAs) to identify and include missing voters to maintain the integrity of the electoral rolls. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath highlighted that the ongoing winter session of the state legislature has been kept short because many members are busy with SIR work and are making use of the extended deadline. He had earlier noted that around 4 crore voters were missing from the rolls, with a significant portion belonging to his party. The BJP has called a meeting of all MPs and MLAs in Lucknow on Sunday to review incomplete SIR forms and coordinate party-level efforts. Sources say the party is keen to ensure that booth-level activities are properly executed and any pending forms are completed before the deadline. The Samajwadi Party is relying heavily on its PDA Praharis, who monitor voter inclusion at the grassroots. SP national president Akhilesh Yadav has been closely supervising the work, encouraging agents to report discrepancies and ensure that no eligible voter is left out. All reported anomalies are compiled and sent daily to the party headquarters, which then communicates them to the Election Commission. Mayawati, BSP national president, has directed all party units to prioritise SIR work over other organizational activities, urging her workers to ensure marginalized communities are not denied their voting rights. Meanwhile, UP Congress chief Ajay Rai has intensified party efforts, assisting voters struggling with the SIR process and requesting a two-month extension to complete the enumeration, citing difficult weather conditions including fog and cold winds. As the December 26 deadline approaches, all parties are racing against time to safeguard voter inclusion and protect democratic participation in the state’s upcoming elections. Earlier, he mentioned that around 4 crore voters were missing from the rolls, with most from his party’s supporters. The BJP has called a meeting of MPs and MLAs in Lucknow to review pending SIR forms and coordinate efforts. The Samajwadi Party is relying on its PDA Praharis, who are monitoring voter inclusion at the grassroots. SP president Akhilesh Yadav is personally supervising the work and ensuring all discrepancies are reported to the Election Commission. BSP chief Mayawati has asked party workers to focus entirely on SIR, especially to include marginalized communities. Meanwhile, UP Congress is helping voters struggling with the SIR process and has requested a two-month extension, citing foggy and cold weather conditions affecting fieldwork. With only a few days remaining, parties are working tirelessly to make sure every eligible voter is included, aiming for a complete and fair electoral roll before the 2027 assembly elections.
