Actor Dimple Hayathi, Husband Face Case Over Domestic Help Harassment Allegations in Hyderabad
Kochi | October 1, 2025 Actor Dimple Hayathi and her husband, David, have been booked by Film Nagar police in Hyderabad following serious allegations of harassment and abuse made by their 22-year-old domestic worker. The case, registered on the basis of a complaint by the woman, accuses the couple of verbal abuse, denial of food, and physical intimidation. The complainant, identified as Priyanka Bibar from Rayagada district in Odisha, began working at the couple’s residence in Vamsiram Westwood Apartment, Shaikpet, on September 22. Within days of her employment, Priyanka claimed she was subjected to mistreatment. According to her complaint, she was denied adequate food, insulted regularly, and was even told that her “life is not equal to their shoes.” Matters came to a head on September 29, after an argument broke out over their pet dog barking. Priyanka alleged that both Dimple and David hurled filthy abuses at her and went as far as threatening to kill her parents. Attempting to document the confrontation, Priyanka took out her phone to record the incident. However, David allegedly snatched the device from her hands and smashed it on the ground. She further alleged that David tried to assault her, and in her attempt to escape, her clothes were torn. “I managed to run out of the flat and save myself,” Priyanka stated in her complaint, as quoted by the Times of India. Police confirmed that a case has been registered under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Section 74 (assault or use of criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), Section 79 (word, gesture or act intended to insult modesty of a woman), Section 351(2) (criminal intimidation), and Section 324(2) (mischief). Film Nagar Inspector Santosham told NDTV that while notices have been issued to both Dimple and David, the couple has not yet been summoned for questioning. So far, they have not responded publicly to the allegations. Dimple Hayathi is known for her performances in films like Ramabanam, Khiladi, Veeramae Vaagai Soodum, Atrangi Re, and Eureka. This is not the first time her name has been associated with controversy. In 2023, she and a male friend were booked for allegedly damaging the official vehicle of an IPS officer in Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad. At the time, reports claimed that the duo intentionally damaged the Deputy Commissioner of Police’s vehicle parked in their apartment cellar. The current case has once again put Dimple in the spotlight, with public attention now on how the investigation unfolds. Police have said further action will be taken once both accused are questioned.
