Bengaluru, October 8, 2025 The Karnataka government has sealed the Bigg Boss Kannada studio at Jollywood Studios and Adventures in Ramanagara district for operating without proper permissions and violating environmental regulations. The Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) issued an immediate closure order on Tuesday night, bringing Season 12 of the popular reality show to a sudden stop. All contestants were asked to vacate the Bigg Boss house and were escorted out under official supervision. Authorities said the operation was personally overseen by Ramanagara Tahsildar Tejaswini. More than 700 people, including technicians and production staff who had been working in shifts for months, were sent home following the closure. The Bigg Boss house, reportedly built at a cost of over ₹5 crore, has been locked and sealed. It was designed like a royal palace, marking one of the most elaborate sets in the history of the Kannada version of the show, hosted by superstar Kichcha Sudeep. After the shutdown, arrangements were made for contestants to stay at Eagleton Resort nearby, and transportation was provided by the show’s organizers. State Forest Minister Eshwar Khandre confirmed the action, stating that despite earlier notices, the studio continued operations without obtaining mandatory permissions under the Water and Air Acts. “No one is above the law. We had issued warnings, yet they ignored them. Closure was inevitable under legal provisions,” he said. Minister Khandre explained that the studio’s management, Vels Studios and Entertainment Private Limited, had been issued notices as early as March 2024 but failed to comply. He added that continued operations despite repeated inspections violated both Supreme Court and National Green Tribunal (NGT) directives. The KSPCB’s order also instructed the Managing Director of BESCOM to disconnect the power supply to the studio. Authorities allege that the existing power connection may have been illegal, prompting further investigation. The 35-acre Jollywood Studios, where Bigg Boss Kannada was being filmed, will remain closed until further notice. The KSPCB cited non-compliance with the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981, and related state rules as the basis for its decision. When asked if the government’s move effectively ends the ongoing season of Bigg Boss, Minister Khandre said that legal action will proceed as per the law and the show’s producers can appeal in court if they wish. “We will implement the law without bias. Everyone must respect it, and there is no need to assume otherwise,” he said. For now, the Bigg Boss Kannada house stands sealed, its lights turned off, and the future of this season uncertain as both the authorities and the showrunners prepare for the next legal step.
