Lucknow | Dec 02, 2025 The Khadi Mahotsav 2025 in Lucknow has ended on a remarkable note, recording sales worth Rs 3.20 crore and marking an impressive 42 percent jump from last year. The 10-day festival, held from November 21 to 30 at the Central Sanskrit University in Gomtinagar, attracted thousands of visitors from across the city and nearby districts. The final day saw the highest rush, with people crowding the stalls well into the evening. The event was organised with the theme “From Thread to Heritage,” highlighting India’s long-standing tradition of handcrafted work. What made this year’s festival stand out was the strong involvement of young shoppers, students and families who came looking for authentic and eco-friendly products. Khadi garments, herbal items, terracotta crafts, jute decor and traditional handloom varieties were the most purchased products throughout the event. A total of 160 entrepreneurs participated, including 32 Khadi institutions, 120 Gramodyog stalls and 8 terracotta units. Artisans from districts like Lucknow, Muzaffarnagar, Barabanki and Gorakhpur shared that this year’s crowd was not only larger but also more enthusiastic about buying handmade products. Many artisans credited the lively presence of young customers for the increase in sales. They said that visitors seemed more aware, more curious and more willing to invest in high-quality handmade goods. Uttar Pradesh Finance Minister Suresh Khanna also visited the festival, interacted with artisans and made a few purchases himself. His presence boosted morale among stall owners, who said they felt encouraged by the growing government support toward traditional industries. Visitors expressed that having such a wide range of Khadi and local crafts under one roof made the event both enjoyable and trustworthy. Many said that attending the festival gave them a sense of connection with India’s heritage, while the modern designs and practical products matched contemporary tastes. During the closing ceremony, the CEO of the Khadi Board, Shishir, thanked artisans, entrepreneurs and organisers for their efforts. He said that Khadi today is more than just fabric. It has become a shared cultural identity that blends tradition with the choices of a new generation. He added that this growth reflects a strong shift among people toward sustainable, handmade and locally sourced products.
