Mumbai | 21 January 2026: Actor Varun Dhawan has finally responded to the trolling and memes targeting his appearance in the trailer of Border 2. The film, directed by Anurag Singh, shows Varun portraying Major Hoshiar Singh Dahiya, a Param Vir Chakra recipient who sacrificed his life during the 1971 India-Pakistan War. After the trailer release earlier this month, Varun’s facial expressions and smile became the focus of online criticism, which quickly turned into a wave of memes. Varun addressed the issue during the ‘Braves of the Soil’ tribute trailer launch event in Mumbai, where he appeared alongside co-star Ahan Shetty and other team members. When asked about the trolling, he said he has learned to ignore such noise and let his work speak for itself. He added, “I believe that you shut down the noise and just let your work do the talking. Yeh sab cheezein chalti rehti hain. It doesn't really matter. Main iske liye kaam nahin karta hoon. Main jis cheez ke liye kaam karta hoon woh iss Friday ko pata chalega.” Varun also spoke about his confidence in the film and the cast’s performance. He said, “Mujhe film pe bharosa hai. Ek achi film banana bohot zaroori hai. Obviously, numbers and all these things don't concern me. But I believe ki humne ek achi film banayi hai. That's the most important thing.” His remarks clearly reflected his belief that the final verdict will come only after the film hits theatres. Border 2, the sequel to JP Dutta’s iconic 1997 war drama, also features Sunny Deol, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty. Produced by Gulshan Kumar and T-Series in association with JP Films, the movie is set to release on January 23, just before Republic Day, and is expected to draw strong audience attention.
