Census Preparations Begin in Meerut: Door-to-Door Survey to Start From May 22
Meerut | 8 March 2026 Preparations for the upcoming census have begun in Meerut, with local authorities setting up a detailed plan to carry out the large-scale exercise smoothly. As part of the initial arrangements, five officials from the district have been trained in Lucknow and appointed as master trainers. These trainers will now guide others so that the census process across the district can be carried out efficiently. According to the plan, the five master trainers will train around 120 additional trainers in March. These trainers will later provide training to thousands of enumerators and supervisors who will be involved in the survey. Officials said that a total of 9,371 enumerators will take part in the census work across the district, and their training sessions are expected to take place in April. The first phase of the process will begin on May 22 and continue until June 20. During this period, officials will conduct a detailed building count across the district. For this task, the entire district has been divided into 22 zones. The Meerut Municipal Corporation area alone has been divided into three zones. In urban areas, groups of about 180 buildings will be formed into blocks, and maps are being prepared to help officials carry out the survey accurately. Authorities have also introduced an online option this time, allowing residents to enter their building details themselves. The portal will remain open for the public from May 7 to May 21. After this period, government enumerators will begin their door-to-door survey from May 22. Officials believe this digital facility will make the process easier and help ensure that the census data is collected in a more organised Census Preparations Begin in Meerut: Door-to-Door Survey to Start From May 22 Preparations for the upcoming census have begun in Meerut, with local authorities setting up a detailed plan to carry out the large-scale exercise smoothly.
