Shivpal Yadav Allegedly Criticises BJP in Agra, Raises Concerns Over Governance and Film 'Dhurandhar' Portrayal
Agra | March 22, 2026 Samajwadi Party national general secretary Shivpal Yadav on Sunday launched a sharp critique of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) during his visit to Agra, raising concerns over governance, law and order, and recent cultural controversies. Speaking at a private hospital inauguration in the Kalindi Vihar area, he accused the ruling government of failing to deliver on its promises and termed it “corrupt,” alleging that development work has been lacking. Yadav also expressed concern over religious sentiments, referring to an incident in Prayagraj where seer Swami Avimukteshwaranand was reportedly not allowed to take a holy dip during the Magh Mela. He described the episode as an “insult” to both religious traditions and the sanctity of the Sangam. Highlighting political ambitions, he said the Samajwadi Party is actively preparing for the upcoming vidhansabha elections and aims to return to power. Addressing recent tensions in Mathura, Yadav alleged that such incidents reflect the current law-and-order situation in the state. He also commented on concerns raised by opposition parties regarding the functioning of the Election Commission, stating that impartiality is essential for maintaining public trust. On being asked about the portrayal of gangster Atiq Ahmed in the film “Dhurandhar,” Yadav objected to the depiction of him as an ISI agent and accused sections of the media of promoting a particular narrative. During his visit, he also met party workers at various locations, including a welcome reception at Rahan Kala toll plaza, where local leaders and supporters gathered in large numbers.
