Kareena Kapoor Khan Reveals the One Decision She Still Regrets

New Delhi, September 04, 2026 Kareena Kapoor Khan’s journey in Bollywood began at a young age and has since grown into a career spanning more than two decades. As she prepares for her upcoming film Daayra, the actress has reflected on a personal choice from her early years—one that, despite her immense professional success, continues to remain a source of regret for her. Making her Bollywood debut in 2000 with Refugee alongside Abhishek Bachchan, Kareena entered the film industry when she was just 19 and eventually established herself as one of the leading actresses of her generation. However, in a recent conversation with podcaster Hanuman Dass, she revealed that she left her education after Class XI to pursue her dream of becoming an actor. She said, “I never finished my education, and that was something that kind of stayed with me. Even though I had the opportunity, I got into movies and didn’t study any further after Class XI. I know a lot of people can make fun of that or say whatever they want, but I wanted to prove myself as an actor. That was something I wanted to do, to follow my heart.” The experience has also shaped the importance Kareena now places on education for her children. Speaking about her lasting regret and her association with UNICEF to support girls’ education in India, she said, “Education is something I do regret not completing. That’s why I have pushed my boys to finish their education first and then follow their hearts. When UNICEF approached me about supporting young girls’ education in India, I felt deeply about it because I had always carried that regret that I hadn’t completed my own education.” On the professional front, Kareena will next appear in Daayra, a crime thriller helmed by National Award-winning filmmaker Meghna Gulzar and inspired by true events. She plays DCP Ajooni Kohli, while Prithviraj Sukumaran stars as DCP Raman Kumar. The story follows the two police officers as they take opposing positions in a case, with both holding very different views on the meaning of justice. Produced by Junglee Pictures and Dr Jayantilal Gada (Pen Studios) and distributed by Pen Marudhar, Daayra is set to arrive in cinemas on September 18, marking Kareena’s next major outing as she continues her long and successful journey in cinema.
