Shanaya Kapoor is said to be leading the upcoming project, which is backed by Dharmatic Entertainment. According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, Student Of The Year 3 will be different from the first two instalments in terms of both its format and storytelling. While Student Of The Year (2012) and Student Of The Year 2 (2019) followed a theatrical release model, the new chapter is reportedly being developed specifically for streaming. The series is also expected to move away from the glamorous and relatively light-hearted style associated with the earlier films. The report further suggests that the upcoming show will explore a more complicated side of student life, focusing on friendships, relationships and conflicts. A source cited by the publication described the show as a blend of the privileged and high-pressure student world seen in Netflix’s Class and the provocative, emotionally charged storytelling of Euphoria. Shanaya Kapoor, who recently received praise for her performance in Tu Yaa Main (2026), is reportedly set to headline the series. The project is expected to target a wider youth audience across different markets while presenting a more mature and edgy take on the franchise. There had also been speculation that the series could be called Student Of The Year 3 – After The Dark, although the makers have reportedly not finalised the title yet. Student Of The Year 3 is reportedly slated to premiere on JioHotstar this year, with the official announcement expected to reveal further details, including its final title.
