Bengaluru, November 03, 2026 A woman working at a shop in Bengaluru's Indiranagar area was left terrified after a man allegedly held a knife to her neck and attempted to snatch her gold chain in broad daylight. In a shocking attempt to prevent her from resisting, the accused reportedly used Fevikwik to stick both her hands to a table. The incident took place on October 31 at around 11:45 am, within the limits of Indiranagar Police Station. The accused, identified as Prabhuraj alias Raj, allegedly entered the shop pretending that someone was chasing him and trying to kill him. He sought shelter from the woman but soon pulled out a knife, held it against her neck and demanded her gold chain. The jewellery reportedly weighed 35 grams and was valued at approximately Rs 4.5 lakh. He allegedly applied Fevikwik to both her hands and stuck them to the table before attempting to remove the chain. Hearing the woman's screams, neighbouring shopkeepers and passersby rushed to the spot. As the crowd gathered, the accused threatened to kill her if anyone approached and allegedly tried to use her as a shield to escape. However, locals managed to divert his attention, overpower him and rescue the woman before handing him over to the police. She was later taken to hospital and reportedly escaped without serious injuries. Police registered a case and arrested Prabhuraj, who was subsequently remanded to judicial custody. The accused reportedly worked as a delivery agent, and police are verifying his background as part of the investigation. Meanwhile, a video showing him threatening and dragging the woman during the incident has surfaced on social media, drawing attention to the safety concerns of shop employees working during business hours.
