New Delhi, October 22: A tragic incident in Delhi’s Narela area has left a five-year-old boy dead after he was allegedly kidnapped and murdered by his father’s driver, police said on Wednesday. Authorities suspect the killing was an act of revenge following a confrontation between the driver and the child’s father. The body of the young boy was recovered from the rented accommodation of the accused, identified as Nitu, who remains at large. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer North) Hareshwar Swami said the police received a call at 3:30 pm on Tuesday reporting that the child had gone missing while playing outside his home. Family members and neighbours immediately launched a search, which eventually led to the discovery of the boy’s body in Nitu’s rented room near the residential area. Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim’s father owned a small transport business with seven to eight vehicles and had employed two drivers, Nitu and Wasim. According to police, a day before the murder, Nitu had a heated argument with his co-worker Wasim while both were under the influence of alcohol. During the altercation, Nitu allegedly assaulted Wasim. When the matter was reported to the boy’s father, he intervened and reportedly reprimanded Nitu, slapping him two to four times for his misconduct. Police believe that feeling humiliated, Nitu kidnapped the boy the following day while he was playing outside his house. The driver took the child to his rented accommodation and killed him using bricks and a knife. The brutality of the act shocked the local community, highlighting a severe lapse in safety and trust within the household. Upon discovering the boy’s body, authorities were notified, and an FIR was registered against Nitu. Police have launched an extensive manhunt to apprehend the accused, deploying multiple teams and using technical surveillance, local intelligence, and CCTV footage to trace his movements. Nitu is currently absconding, and the police have urged the public to provide any information that could help in locating him. The incident has raised serious concerns about the safety of children, even within their own homes, and the risks posed by employees in close proximity to families. Investigators are examining the circumstances leading to the murder, focusing on the prior conflicts and grievances between the driver and the child’s father. Medical authorities confirmed that the child was declared dead upon arrival at a nearby hospital, despite immediate attempts at resuscitation. Police continue to probe the case to understand the full sequence of events and the motivations behind this shocking act of revenge. As the search for Nitu intensifies, officials have appealed for vigilance in the community, requesting residents and businesses in and around Narela to share any sightings or information about the suspect. Authorities have also pledged to ensure swift legal action once the accused is apprehended, emphasizing the seriousness of the crime and the commitment to protecting public safety. This harrowing case underscores the tragic consequences of personal grievances escalating into acts of violence and has drawn widespread attention across the city, prompting calls for enhanced safeguards for children and stricter monitoring of household employees.
