19th WAVES Film Bazaar to Showcase Global Co-Production Market in Goa
Goa, November 16 — The 19th edition of the WAVES Film Bazaar, earlier known simply as Film Bazaar, is set to take place in Goa from November 20 to 24, running alongside the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI). Hosted at the Marriott Resort, this year’s market promises a stronger and more diverse Co-Production Market aimed at connecting filmmakers with global producers, distributors and industry decision-makers. This edition will feature 22 feature film projects from India and several other countries including France, the UK, Canada, the US, Russia, the Philippines and Singapore. The wide mix of languages represented—ranging from Hindi, Urdu, Bengali and Manipuri to Ladakhi, Konkani, Russian, Sanskrit and Odia—highlights the linguistic and cultural breadth of the participating filmmakers. During the event, creators of these projects will pitch their films in an open session and later engage in focused one-on-one meetings with producers, financiers, festival curators and sales agents. In addition to feature films, five documentary projects have been selected. These documentaries explore themes such as culture, environmental change, gender issues, education, sustainability and anthropology. The selection aims to give a platform to stories that blend artistic expression with contemporary relevance. The lineup brings together both fresh voices and well-known names from the film world. Notable participants include Kiran Rao, Vikramaditya Motwane, Shakun Batra, Devashish Makhija, Ira Dubey, Sarita Patil, Shaunak Sen and BAFTA-winning filmmaker Ben Crichton. Their presence is expected to attract considerable interest from international collaborators. This year also introduces a new partnership between WAVES Film Bazaar and the Asia TV Forum & Market (ATF). As part of a cross-exchange initiative, the project “Gloria” from the Philippines and Singapore will be featured at the market. Another highlight is the selection of three projects—“Shamed,” “Smash” and “Tiger in the Lion Den”—under the NFDC’s Handpicked Focused Projects section, which aims to support promising cinematic works with strong potential for international growth. The selected films and documentaries cover a wide range of stories rooted in regional cultures, personal experiences and timely social themes. Through market interactions, they will explore possibilities for global co-production, festival participation and financial partnerships. The goal is to help these projects find the support they need to move from development to completion. Since its inception in 2007, WAVES Film Bazaar has become an essential meeting ground for filmmakers, producers, festival programmers and investors from India and abroad. Held alongside IFFI every year, it continues to nurture South Asian cinema while building bridges with film industries across the world. The 19th edition is expected to carry forward this legacy with richer collaborations and a wider international footprint. 19th WAVES Film Bazaar to Showcase Global Co-Production Market in Goa The 19th WAVES Film Bazaar is all set to bring an exciting blend of creativity, collaboration and global storytelling to Goa.
