President Murmu Flags Off PBG Soldierathon to Honour India’s Armed Forces

New Delhi, August 02, 2026 Honouring the courage and sacrifices of India’s soldiers, President Droupadi Murmu on Sunday virtually flagged off the President’s Bodyguards (PBG) Soldierathon from the Forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan. The initiative aims to strengthen public support for the Armed Forces and encourage citizens to actively participate in recognising the contribution of military personnel. The event was attended by General (Dr.) V.K. Singh (Retd.), Governor of Mizoram and patron of the initiative. President Murmu also released a Special Postal Cover to mark the occasion. Organised at Cariappa Parade Ground in Delhi Cantonment under the theme **“Supporting Real Heroes – the Armed Forces of India,”** the Soldierathon carries the message **“Run for Soldiers, Run with Soldiers.”** The event featured 3 km, 5 km and 10 km races, enabling people across different age groups and fitness levels to participate. According to the President’s Secretariat, the proceeds will be used to support the Paraplegic Rehabilitation Centre of the Armed Forces, welfare of the wards of battle casualties and other initiatives for soldiers. The event will also support the horses and troops of the President’s Bodyguards. By bringing civilians and the Armed Forces together through participation, the PBG Soldierathon seeks to turn public appreciation into meaningful support. It serves as a reminder of the dedication, courage and sacrifice of those who serve the nation while contributing directly to the welfare of soldiers and their families.
