Ghaziabad | December 12, 2025 Officials in Ghaziabad have confirmed that the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls is progressing in line with the revised schedule announced by the Election Commission of India (ECI) for Uttar Pradesh. As of December 11, about 59.4% of the collected forms have been digitised, and authorities remain confident of completing the process by the new deadline of December 26, with draft rolls set to be published on December 31, 2025. The SIR exercise is currently underway in five assembly segments: Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Loni, Modinagar, and Muradnagar. For this extensive operation, the district administration has deployed 3,089 booth-level officers (BLOs) to conduct door-to-door verification, engage with residents, and ensure forms are accurately filled and collected. Additionally, political parties have deployed around 10,084 booth-level agents (BLAs) to assist in reaching out to voters, particularly in areas with high migration or transient populations, such as industrial zones. Ghaziabad has a total of 2,837,991 registered electors, with forms distributed to 2,834,485 individuals, which amounts to nearly 99.88% coverage. However, the administration continues to focus on areas where enrolment or verification may lag, particularly among industrial workers and residents who have relocated from other states. The current ASD (Address Satisfactorily Verified) list stands at 36%, indicating ongoing verification efforts. BLOs are conducting additional rounds of visits to update voter details and ensure accuracy. Breakdown of digitisation across assembly segments shows 64.6% forms digitised in Ghaziabad, 64.4% in Loni, 66.64% in Muradnagar, 78.33% in Modinagar, and 45.88% in Sahibabad. Officials are holding regular meetings with political parties, industrial associations, and other community representatives to encourage voter participation and verify information. The administration emphasises that timely completion of the SIR is crucial to ensure that all eligible voters are included and that the final electoral rolls are accurate. This exercise not only updates records for existing voters but also focuses on enrolling new voters, particularly youths turning 18 by January 1, 2026. Authorities remain vigilant to address challenges in industrial and migrant-heavy areas, and the combined efforts of BLOs, BLAs, and political stakeholders aim to achieve comprehensive coverage and smooth execution of the revision process. With consistent field operations, active collaboration with political representatives, and door-to-door engagement, Ghaziabad is on track to complete the SIR work within the revised timeframe, ensuring accurate, inclusive, and up-to-date electoral rolls for all residents.
