Agartala | January 2, 2026 Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Thursday called on students to combine academic knowledge, modern technology, and spiritual learning to build a meaningful and successful future. Speaking at the inauguration of the Golden Jubilee Year Celebration Festival of the Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE) at Nazrul Kalakshetra in Agartala, he emphasized that education should not only focus on textbooks but also include moral values, practical skills, and mental well-being. “True education goes beyond classroom learning. It should help students develop practical skills, remain morally grounded, and maintain mental focus. Education shapes one’s identity and builds the foundation for a bright future,” said Saha. He stressed that spending time on spiritual practices can help students stay calm, focused, and balanced in their personal and academic lives. Referring to the National Education Policy (NEP), Saha said it was introduced under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make India’s education system more contemporary and student-focused. He highlighted that integrating technology with education is crucial for preparing students to compete globally and for making India a hub for quality education. “Educated youth are among the most valuable assets of the world. The state government is working to ensure timely and quality education for all,” he added. The Chief Minister highlighted the journey of the TBSE, which was established in 1976 and is now celebrating its golden jubilee year. He urged the board to learn from the experience of former officers and employees to further strengthen educational standards. Since implementing the NEP, students appearing for TBSE examinations have shown improved performance, he noted, and he encouraged the board to continue initiatives that enhance academic results. Saha also outlined key initiatives of the state government, including programmes like Nipun Tripura, Mission Mukul, and the Vidya Setu Module to strengthen the education system. Efforts to support girl students and higher education aspirants include providing bicycles and launching the ‘Super 30’ project. Teacher training is a priority, with around 7,700 teachers already trained to improve learning outcomes. Smart classrooms have been introduced in all schools, and 47 new hostels have been constructed for students from tribal areas under various schemes, including PM Janman. Announcing future plans, Saha said the state aims to set up one Eklavya Model Residential School in each of Tripura’s 58 blocks. Higher education infrastructure is also being expanded, with new colleges, universities, and technical institutions in development to ensure quality opportunities for students across the state. During the event, 23 meritorious students were felicitated for their outstanding performance in the secondary and higher secondary examinations from 2022 to 2025. Certificates were presented by the Chief Minister, who also unveiled a souvenir marking the TBSE’s golden jubilee year.
