The accused, who remains on the run, is reported to have coerced the woman on the pretext of marriage and allegedly tried to force her to convert her religion. Authorities are now taking legal steps to attach his property in case he cannot be apprehended. The case came to light last month when the complainant, a colleague at KGMU, approached police alleging that the doctor repeatedly assaulted her, promising marriage. According to the woman, she became pregnant in September after the assaults, and when she informed the accused, he allegedly gave her abortion pills. During the preliminary inquiry, the woman claimed that she came in contact with another woman, who identified herself as the accused’s wife. A senior police officer confirmed that initial checks indicate the allegation regarding a second wife appears to be true.
