Crossing the landmark of 100 million followers, PM Modi has moved far ahead of other international leaders, highlighting his unmatched digital reach and popularity. He is now the first politician and global leader to achieve this milestone on the platform. In comparison, US President Donald Trump stands second with 43.2 million followers. Trump mainly uses his own platform, Truth Social, to share statements and reactions. Despite this, PM Modi’s follower count is more than double that of Trump, placing him firmly at the top among global leaders on Instagram. PM Modi’s Instagram presence has also surpassed the combined followers of several major leaders. Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has around 15 million followers, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has 14.4 million, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has 11.6 million, and Argentine President Javier Milei has 6.4 million followers. PM Modi alone has more followers than all of them combined. Officials quoted by news agency said PM Modi’s Instagram journey began in 2014 and has steadily grown into one of the most engaging digital platforms run by a global leader. Among Indian politicians, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath follows with 16 million followers, while Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi has 12.6 million. Beyond social media, PM Modi continues to lead in public approval as well. According to sources, he recorded a 70 per cent approval rating as of December 2025, the highest among global leaders. He was followed by Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi at 63 per cent and Argentina’s Javier Milei at 60 per cent, while Donald Trump ranked 11th with 43 per cent. Another survey by US-based firm Morning Consult placed PM Modi at the top again, with a 67 per cent approval rating based on data collected between February 2 and February 8, 2026.
