India defeated New Zealand national cricket team by 96 runs in the final to successfully defend their title. The team, led by captain Suryakumar Yadav, delivered a dominant performance to secure the championship and make history in the tournament. Reacting to the victory on X, the Prime Minister praised the team’s dedication and discipline. He wrote, “By winning the T20 Cricket World Cup, Team India has proven that the confluence of determination, restraint, and self-confidence is the fundamental mantra for success in life. With hard work in the right direction, every goal can be achieved.” Shortly after the match on Sunday night, he had also posted, “Champions! Congratulations to the Indian team on winning the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. This remarkable triumph reflects exceptional skill, determination and teamwork.” In the final match, New Zealand captain Mitchell Santner won the toss and chose to bowl first. However, India’s batting line-up produced a powerful performance, scoring 255 for 5 — the highest total ever recorded in a T20 World Cup final. Abhishek Sharma gave the team a fast start with 52 runs from just 21 balls and built a strong partnership with Sanju Samson. Samson later added another important partnership with Ishan Kishan, who scored a quick 54 from 25 balls. Shivam Dube finished the innings strongly with an unbeaten 26 runs off eight deliveries. For New Zealand, James Neesham was the most effective bowler with figures of 3 for 46. While chasing a challenging target of 256, New Zealand struggled against India’s bowling attack.
