BJP’s Expanding Footprint Reflected in Assam Victory and Strong State Performances
New Delhi, May 4, 2026 The outcome of the recent Assembly elections across five states underscores a significant shift in India’s political landscape, with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) strengthening its presence beyond traditional strongholds. The party’s decisive victory in Assam, along with notable performances in West Bengal, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry, points to a widening acceptance of its development-driven agenda among voters. Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed party workers at the BJP Central Office, acknowledging the importance of the mandate received. He expressed heartfelt gratitude to the voters of Assam, West Bengal, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry, thanking them for increasing their trust in the BJP. Speaking about the results, he described them as highly encouraging for both the BJP and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). He noted that the formation of a BJP government in Assam has surprised many observers, much like the party’s earlier role in the government of Jammu and Kashmir had drawn attention. He stated that the election outcomes clearly show that the BJP’s ideology of development and its persistent efforts to bring meaningful changes to the lives of ordinary citizens are being widely appreciated, accepted, and supported by the people of the country. The Prime Minister said that this growing public support would provide greater strength and motivation to continue working for the welfare of the poor and to improve the standard of living of citizens. He added that the BJP is steadily gaining acceptance across all regions of India, describing this trend as a positive sign for democracy. Reaffirming the party’s commitment, he emphasized that efforts will continue to fulfill the hopes and aspirations of the common people. The focus, he indicated, will remain on consistent development and inclusive growth across all sections of society. At last Narendra Modi congratulated Amit Shah, then BJP National President, along with his team, state leaders, and millions of party workers for their dedication and hard work that contributed to the party’s success.
