India-US Trade Talks Set For Fresh Push In New Delhi
New Delhi, May 28, 2026 India and the United States are preparing to hold a fresh round of Bilateral Trade Agreement (BTA) negotiations in New Delhi from June 1 to June 4, highlighting the growing focus on strengthening economic cooperation between the two countries. The upcoming discussions are expected to play an important role in expanding trade opportunities and deepening strategic ties amid changing global economic conditions. A high-level US delegation, led by US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer, will participate in the talks with Indian officials. Key areas likely to be discussed include market access, customs and trade facilitation, investment promotion, digital trade, and the removal of non-tariff barriers. Both sides are also expected to review progress on economic security and supply chain cooperation as part of the broader trade framework. The negotiations follow earlier discussions held in Washington in April and are aimed at advancing the interim reciprocal trade arrangement agreed upon earlier this year. India and the US have been working toward creating a balanced and mutually beneficial trade partnership that can support business growth and economic stability for both nations. With another round of negotiations now scheduled in New Delhi, the discussions are being seen as a significant step toward strengthening long-term India-US economic relations. The outcome of the talks could further open doors for cooperation in sectors such as technology, manufacturing, investment, and digital commerce.
