PM Modi to Lead IIT Delhi Convocation, Unveil AI Supercomputing Facility

New Delhi, August 07, 2026 The 57th Convocation Ceremony of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi is set to highlight both academic excellence and technological advancement, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi attending as the Chief Guest on August 8. Along with celebrating the achievements of thousands of graduating students, the event will also mark the inauguration of a major AI-powered research facility aimed at strengthening the institute's innovation ecosystem. More than 3,000 students, including 587 PhD scholars, will receive their degrees during the convocation. As part of the ceremony, the Prime Minister will confer IIT Delhi's highest academic honours on deserving students, including the President's Gold Medal, Director's Gold Medal, Shankar Dayal Sharma Gold Medal and Perfect Ten Gold Medals, recognising exceptional academic performance. The event will also witness the inauguration of Param Pragya, an AI-powered high-performance supercomputing facility established at IIT Delhi's Sonipat Campus. The advanced computing infrastructure has been developed to expand the institute's capabilities in artificial intelligence, data science, advanced computing and interdisciplinary research. The convocation reflects IIT Delhi's continued emphasis on academic achievement while also showcasing its growing focus on cutting-edge technology and research. With the addition of Param Pragya, the institute is expected to further strengthen its contribution to innovation, scientific research and the development of advanced technological solutions in India.
