PM Modi Hands Jobs to 51,000 Youth at 20th Rozgar Mela

New Delhi, September 19, 2026 The government’s employment drive reached another milestone on Saturday as Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually distributed appointment letters to 51,000 young recruits during the 20th Rozgar Mela. Addressing beneficiaries from job fairs organised at 45 locations nationwide, Modi underlined the role of young Indians in the country’s development and the growing opportunities available to them. The latest batch of recruits will join different ministries, departments and government organisations, including the Department of Revenue, Ministry of Railways, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Department of Financial Services and Ministry of Defence. With this edition of the Rozgar Mela, the total number of youngsters who have received appointment letters through the initiative has reached 12.75 lakh. Speaking to the newly appointed candidates, PM Modi said India's talent and skills have earned global confidence, with expectations rising around its innovators, entrepreneurs and young workforce. He also cited the country’s expanding startup ecosystem as an example of youth power, noting that it has moved beyond major metropolitan centres and is reaching other cities as well. "Today, all of you are associated with the Government of India at a time when the country is moving towards a very big goal. This goal is to make India developed by 2047. Young people like you have a big role to play in this. While being in the government, you have to take every decision that continuously strengthens the campaign for a developed and self-reliant India," PM Modi said. The Prime Minister also said that 'Nagrik devo bhava' (citizens are god) should remain the guiding principle of public service. The government said the Rozgar Mela is aimed at creating employment opportunities for young people and increasing their participation in the country’s development process. The 20th Rozgar Mela thus adds another 51,000 recruits to the central government workforce, taking the cumulative number of appointment letters issued through the initiative to 12.75 lakh. The newly selected employees will now begin their roles across different government departments and organisations.
