Breaking the Colonial Mindset, Youth Power Fuels India’s Reform Journey: PM Modi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday urged the youth to rise above the colonial mindset and place India’s own ideas, heritage and creativity at the centre of nation-building. Addressing the concluding session of the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue 2026, he said the energy and vision of young Indians are shaping the country’s future. The Prime Minister described the last decade of reforms as a “Reform Express” driven by Yuva Shakti. He said the journey towards 2047 will be a decisive phase for both the nation and its youth, adding that young minds will play a key role in turning the dream of a developed India into reality. Highlighting opportunities in culture and creativity, PM Modi spoke about the rapid rise of the “Orange Economy.” He said India’s youth can reimagine inspiring stories from the Ramayana and Mahabharata through modern platforms like gaming, content creation and digital innovation, taking Indian narratives to a global audience. Referring to Swami Vivekananda’s ideals, the Prime Minister called on young Indians to remain rooted in their values while embracing ideas from across the world. He said innovation, confidence and cultural pride will keep India ahead in the years to come.
