Mumbai | 28 January,2026 Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister and Nationalist Congress Party leader Ajit Pawar has died after a plane crash near Baramati on Wednesday morning, officials and aviation regulators confirmed. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said there were no survivors from the tragic accident, and all on board including the NCP leader lost their lives. According to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and multiple reports,the chartered aircraft,a Learjet 45 registered VT-SSK, was arriving from Mumbai and attempting to land at Baramati Airport to take Pawar to address four public meetings ahead of the Zilla Parishad elections. As it tried to land, the plane went off the side of the runway and crashed, bursting into flames. Officials confirmed that five others besides Pawar were killed in the crash, including his security personnel and the plane’s crew members.
