New Delhi, October 7, 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday expressed heartfelt gratitude to the people of India as he completed 25 years in public office, starting from his tenure as Gujarat Chief Minister in October 2001. Reflecting on his journey, the Prime Minister said his constant aim has been to improve lives and contribute to India’s growth and progress. PM Modi recalled the challenging circumstances when he first assumed office in Gujarat, including the aftermath of a major earthquake, a super cyclone, repeated droughts, and political instability. “These trials strengthened my resolve to serve the people and rebuild Gujarat with renewed energy and hope,” he said. He also remembered his mother’s advice to work for the poor and avoid corruption, noting that this principle continues to guide his governance. During his time as Chief Minister, PM Modi said Gujarat underwent a remarkable transformation. Agriculture, industry, and trade all expanded, infrastructure improved, and the state emerged as a model of governance. “From a state facing power and water shortages and slow industrial growth, Gujarat became a hub of development, innovation, and social progress through collective efforts,” he added. Looking back at the national stage, PM Modi recalled being named the Prime Ministerial candidate in 2014, a time when India faced a crisis of trust and governance. “The people entrusted us with a decisive mandate, allowing us to bring in renewed confidence, stability, and purpose,” he said. Over the last 11 years as Prime Minister, he highlighted key achievements, including lifting over 25 crore people out of poverty, empowering women, youth, and farmers, and strengthening India’s position among major global economies. PM Modi emphasized India’s focus on self-reliance and innovation under his leadership, citing initiatives like “Garv Se Kaho, Yeh Swadeshi Hai” and large-scale social, healthcare, and welfare programs. He stressed that these steps are aimed at building a Viksit Bharat—a developed and prosperous nation for all citizens. Concluding his reflections, PM Modi expressed deep gratitude to the people of India for their trust and support. “To serve the nation is the highest honour. Guided by the values of our Constitution, I reaffirm my commitment to work even harder to realise the collective dream of a developed India,” he said.
