Amit Shah Launches ₹4 Lakh Crore Investment Proposals, Unveils Criminal Law Exhibition in Jaipur
Jaipur, October 13: Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah, inaugurated a state-level exhibition on new criminal laws and performed the ground-breaking ceremony for investment proposals worth ₹4 lakh crore in Rajasthan on Monday. The event also marked the foundation stone laying for several development projects by the state government. Addressing the gathering, Shah said the event was a fusion of development and justice, highlighting that the exhibition introduces three new criminal laws designed to simplify the criminal justice system and make constitutional rights more accessible to citizens. These laws, he noted, replace 160-year-old provisions and aim to ensure justice within three years for any FIR filed after 2027. The Home Minister also stressed that the reforms would strengthen justice for women and children, introducing new provisions such as e-FIR, zero FIR, mandatory videography of seizures, and compulsory forensic investigation for serious crimes. Shah highlighted that Rajasthan’s conviction rate has already risen from 42% to 60% within a year, with expectations to reach 90% once fully implemented. Shah also announced reforms for modern crimes, including terrorism, mob lynching, organized crime, and digital crime, now formally defined in India’s judicial system. The new laws specify time limits for over 29 legal provisions and allow for trial in absentia for offenders who flee the country. He described these changes as the biggest criminal justice reform of the 21st century, positioning India’s system as one of the most modern in the world. On the development front, Shah highlighted the state’s progress in executing previous agreements, noting that out of ₹35 lakh crore in MoUs signed at the Rising Rajasthan event, ₹3 lakh crore has already been implemented. The new investment proposals worth ₹4 lakh crore will further boost the state’s growth and create numerous employment opportunities. Shah also pointed out key welfare measures, saying that over 5 lakh milk producers in Rajasthan have received subsidies totaling ₹364 crore. The government has launched registration for 150 free electricity units per household, and pledged to purchase 100% of tur, masoor, and urad pulses produced by farmers registered with NAFED and NCCF at minimum support price. The projects launched today, totaling ₹9,315 crore, are expected to significantly contribute to economic development, job creation, and social welfare in Rajasthan. The Home Minister emphasized that these steps demonstrate a commitment to combining legal reforms with development initiatives to improve governance and ensure citizens benefit from both justice and economic growth. The Jaipur event thus showcased the dual focus of the government—modernizing India’s criminal justice system while simultaneously promoting investment, infrastructure, and welfare programs. Shah’s announcements underline the state and central governments’ efforts to build a more just, prosperous, and inclusive Rajasthan.
