Three ISIS Suspects Arrested in Gujarat for Allegedly Planning Attacks Across India
Ahmedabad | November 9, 2025 The Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) on Sunday arrested three suspected ISIS terrorists from Ahmedabad for allegedly plotting to carry out coordinated attacks across multiple parts of India. According to officials, the suspects had been under surveillance for nearly a year. They were arrested while attempting to exchange weapons, which investigators believe were intended for use in planned terror strikes. The ATS stated that the three accused belonged to two different ISIS-linked modules and were working to establish a wider terror network within the country. An official release said, “The individuals came to Gujarat to exchange weapons and discuss attack plans for various locations. We are currently identifying their possible targets and networks.” Further questioning and digital forensic analysis are underway to uncover more details about their operations and international connections. This development comes months after a major ATS operation earlier in the year, when five members of Al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS) were arrested, including a woman from Bengaluru accused of running an online radicalisation module. Those arrested at the time—Fardin Sheikh, Saifulla Qureshi, Mohammad Faiq, and Zeeshan Ali—were accused of spreading extremist propaganda and encouraging violence against non-Muslims. During that investigation, the ATS recovered an illegal semi-automatic pistol and live ammunition from Zeeshan Ali’s residence in Noida. The follow-up raid was conducted under the supervision of Deputy Superintendent of Police Virajeetsinh Parmar, along with Inspector Nikhil Brahmbhatt and Sub-Inspector A.R. Chaudhary. Authorities say the earlier AQIS group promoted the idea of a violent campaign called “Ghazwa-e-Hind,” which sought to incite armed rebellion against the Indian government. They have been charged under multiple sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), 1967, and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. Among those linked to the network was Shama Parveen, arrested from Bengaluru in July for allegedly helping coordinate online communications between Indian recruits and Pakistani handlers. The recent ISIS arrests have raised concerns that sleeper cells from different extremist groups may be attempting to rebuild networks in India. ATS officials have said that they are intensifying intelligence coordination with central agencies to prevent future plots. An officer involved in the case noted, “The arrests show that radical elements are still trying to spread their ideology through covert channels, but our teams are alert and prepared.” Further updates on the suspects’ interrogation and digital evidence are expected in the coming days as the ATS continues its probe. Three ISIS Suspects Arrested in Gujarat for Allegedly Planning Attacks Across India The Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) has arrested three men linked to ISIS from Ahmedabad for planning terror attacks in different parts of India. The suspects were under watch for almost a year and were caught while trying to exchange weapons. According to officials, they were part of two different ISIS-backed groups working to create networks in the country. The ATS has started an investigation to find out their possible targets and connections. This arrest follows an earlier case this year when five members of Al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent were arrested, including a woman from Bengaluru accused of running an online radical group. Officials said the recent arrests show that extremist groups are still trying to spread fear through secret networks, but security forces remain alert. The ATS is now working with central agencies to stop future threats and keep people safe. The operation, led by senior officers of the Gujarat ATS, shows how teamwork, surveillance, and quick response help protect the nation from hidden dangers.
