New Delhi, Nov 11, 2025: President Droupadi Murmu will present the 6th National Water Awards 2024 at a ceremony on November 18, 2025, at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, the Ministry of Jal Shakti announced. The awards celebrate outstanding contributions in water conservation and management across India, encouraging sustainable practices and community participation. Union Minister of Jal Shakti C.R. Paatil revealed the list of 46 winners, including joint awardees, during a press conference at Shram Shakti Bhawan. Maharashtra was declared the Best State, followed by Gujarat and Haryana. The event will also be attended by Minister of State for Jal Shakti Raj Bhushan Chaudhary, senior officials, and dignitaries. The Ministry received 751 applications through the Rashtriya Puraskar Portal. After careful evaluation and field verification by the Central Water Commission (CWC) and Central Ground Water Board (CGWB), the winners were selected for their exemplary efforts in managing water resources. Among districts, Rajnandgaon (Chhattisgarh), Khargone (Madhya Pradesh), Mirzapur (Uttar Pradesh), Tirunelveli (Tamil Nadu), and Sepahijala (Tripura) were recognized for outstanding performance. In urban local bodies, Navi Mumbai topped the list, while IIT Gandhinagar (Gujarat) and ICAR–CCARI (Goa) were awarded as best institutions. The Best Village Panchayat award went jointly to Dubbiganipalli (Andhra Pradesh) and Payam (Kerala). In the industry category, Apollo Tyres Ltd (Tamil Nadu), Hero MotoCorp Ltd (Haryana), and Jhajjar Power Ltd (Haryana) were honoured. Individual achievers from Bihar, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, and Andhra Pradesh were also recognised for excellence in water management. Launched in 2018, the National Water Awards aim to promote sustainable water management, support community participation, and advance the government’s vision of a ‘Jal Samridh Bharat’, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The awards highlight the importance of protecting India’s water resources and inspiring innovation across states, districts, institutions, industries, and communities. This year’s winners showcase practical solutions, innovative practices, and commitment to water conservation, reflecting the growing national focus on sustainable development and responsible resource management.
