Indian Navy to Launch Five-Day Multi-Speciality Medical Camp Across Lakshadweep Islands
Kavaratti | January 11, 2026 The Indian Navy is set to organise a five-day multi-speciality medical camp in the Union Territory of Lakshadweep from January 12 to 16, strengthening its healthcare outreach and civil-military cooperation efforts. The camp will be inaugurated by Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi, and aims to deliver advanced medical services to island residents. According to an official release, the initiative is part of the Navy’s Navy Day outreach programme and seeks to supplement Lakshadweep’s existing healthcare infrastructure. Building on years of successful primary healthcare and dental camps, the Navy has now upgraded the effort to include specialist and super-speciality medical care, responding to growing local needs and positive community feedback. The camp will cover Agatti, Kavaratti, Androth, Amini and Minicoy islands, with a joint medical team comprising experienced doctors from the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force. Services will include consultations in general and dental medicine, along with super-specialities such as cardiology, neurology, nephrology, endocrinology and gastroenterology. Cataract surgeries and select general surgical procedures will also be conducted in coordination with local health authorities. Alongside treatment, the medical teams will focus on preventive healthcare and awareness, engaging communities on lifestyle diseases, maternal and child health, nutrition and overall wellness.
