New Delhi | 11 March 2026 Four people, including an Indian national, were injured after two drones crashed near Dubai International Airport in Dubai, according to a statement shared by the Dubai Media Office on X (formerly Twitter). Authorities confirmed that emergency services responded quickly to the incident and the injured individuals received medical attention. The development comes at a time of rising tensions in West Asia, where several countries are facing security concerns linked to ongoing military escalation. Officials from the UAE Ministry of Defence stated that the country’s defence systems are actively intercepting missile and drone attacks believed to have been launched by Iran. The attacks are said to be a response to earlier military strikes carried out by United States and Israel on Iranian territory. In retaliation, Iran reportedly launched several waves of missiles and drones targeting Gulf nations such as United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Qatar, causing damage to infrastructure and raising concerns about regional stability. Amid the escalating situation, one of the largest oil refining facilities in the region has temporarily halted operations. According to reports, a drone strike triggered a fire in Ruwais Industrial City in Abu Dhabi. As a safety measure, the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) refinery located there stopped operations. The Ruwais refinery is described by the company as "the world's fourth-largest single-site refinery", and officials said the shutdown was taken as a precaution following the nearby attack. Despite the tensions, authorities in the UAE have assured residents that essential supplies remain secure. The UAE Ministry of Economy and Tourism stated that the country currently holds a six-month strategic reserve of essential goods. Officials added that monitoring of retail markets has been intensified to maintain stable prices and ensure that necessary commodities remain widely available. Additional supplies have also been sent to markets to prevent shortages during the ongoing regional crisis.
