Car Explosion Outside Islamabad Court Kills 12, Leaves Dozens Injured
Islamabad, Nov 11, 2025: A devastating car blast outside a district court in Islamabad on Tuesday afternoon claimed the lives of 12 people and injured several others. The explosion caused panic among visitors and damaged multiple vehicles parked near the court. Authorities are yet to confirm the exact cause of the blast, though local media have speculated that a gas cylinder inside the vehicle may have ignited. Police, however, have refrained from commenting on the speculation. Witnesses described the chaos that erupted immediately after the explosion. Lawyer Rustam Malik, who was parking his car at the time, told AFP, “It was complete chaos, lawyers and people were running inside the complex. I saw two dead bodies lying at the gate, and several cars were on fire.” Court premises are usually crowded with people attending hearings, which contributed to the high number of casualties. The blast comes a day after Pakistani forces reportedly thwarted a terror attempt at an army-run college in Wana, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, near the Afghan border. In that overnight assault, a suicide bomber and five militants tried to take cadets hostage. Two militants were killed, and the remaining three were cornered inside the college. All cadets and staff remained safe, though around 16 civilians and some troops were injured, and nearby homes sustained heavy damage. This incident also follows a similar attack in New Delhi, where a Hyundai i20 car explosion near the Red Fort killed 13 people. Investigators in India have linked the blast to Umar Un Nabi, a doctor from Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir. Two former owners of the vehicle were also detained for questioning. Authorities in both countries are reinforcing security measures in response to these attacks, highlighting growing concerns over terrorist threats in South Asia. The Islamabad blast underscores the urgent need for vigilance in crowded public spaces and strict enforcement of safety protocols to prevent further tragedies.
