Indian Coast Guard Intercepts Pakistani Fishing Boat Near Maritime Border, Crew Detained
n a major maritime security operation, the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) seized a Pakistani fishing boat along with nine crew members after it was found inside Indian territorial waters near the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL). The interception took place during a night patrol in the Arabian Sea, highlighting India’s heightened vigilance along its maritime borders. According to officials, the incident occurred on January 15, 2026, when an ICG patrol vessel detected suspicious movement close to the notional maritime boundary. Upon being challenged, the Pakistani boat attempted to flee towards Pakistan, raising further suspicion. However, the Coast Guard swiftly intercepted the vessel within Indian waters and carried out a boarding operation. The fishing boat, identified as Al-Madina, was found to have nine crew members on board. Following the interception, the vessel was secured and is now being towed to Porbandar. Authorities confirmed that the crew will undergo detailed questioning as part of a joint investigation by concerned agencies.
