Uttarakhand CM Sanctions ₹183.71 Crore for Roads, Water, Housing and Panchayat Grants
Dehradun | January 19, 2026 Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has approved a total of ₹183.71 crore for development and relief works across multiple districts in the state. The funds will be used for road construction and strengthening, drinking water supply projects, housing for government staff, financial support to Panchayati Raj institutions, and additional relief measures for disaster-affected families. A major part of the funds has been allocated to prepare for the upcoming Shri Nanda Devi Raj Jat Yatra, a significant pilgrimage in the region. As per the government’s work plan, the Chief Minister approved ₹12.90 crore for strengthening and blacktopping the Nandprayag–Ghat–Sutol–Kanol motor road in the Tharali constituency. The work will cover a 20 km stretch from kilometre 20 to 40, improving the road’s condition ahead of the Yatra. In Chamoli district, ₹6.55 crore has been sanctioned for the Sonli–Devli Bagar water supply scheme under the Karnaprayag branch. In Dehradun, ₹5.89 lakh has been approved for widening and blacktopping two road stretches, including the Peeli Kothi to Balawala–Gularghati FIC route and the Kasturi Chowk to Balawala Crossing route (first phase). The Chief Minister also approved ₹11.29 crore for building residential quarters for officers and staff of the Prosecution Department at Roshanabad in Haridwar district. The project includes the construction of 24 housing units of different types. In addition, ₹141.15 crore has been released to Panchayati Raj institutions under the 15th Finance Commission. The funds will be distributed as ₹21.17 crore to district panchayats, ₹14.12 crore to area panchayats, and ₹105.86 crore to gram panchayats as the second instalment for the financial year 2024–25. The Chief Minister has also approved additional relief worth ₹24 lakh from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for Pithoragarh district. The legal heirs of nine people who died in a natural disaster will receive ₹1 lakh each, while owners of five fully damaged buildings will receive ₹3 lakh each. A government order has been issued to implement this relief package.
