Khudiram Bose Remembered: Yogi Salutes Young Martyr

Lucknow, August 11, 2026 The sacrifice of young revolutionary Khudiram Bose was remembered on his martyrdom day as Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath paid tribute to one of India’s youngest freedom fighters. Bose, who was executed by the British in 1908 at the age of 18, remains a powerful symbol of courage, sacrifice and commitment to the country’s freedom struggle. “A humble tribute on the death anniversary of great revolutionary Khudiram Bose, a brave son of Mother India. By dedicating himself to the noble cause of the motherland’s liberation at the tender age of just 18, he awakened the entire nation against the British. His sacrifice, spirit, and dedication will continue to inspire every Indian to walk the path of ‘Nation First’,” Adityanath said in a post on X. Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya also paid tribute to Bose on the occasion. “A humble tribute to the great revolutionary and immortal martyr Khudiram Bose on his martyrdom day. Khudiram Bose’s supreme sacrifice and profound love for the nation will forever kindle the flame of patriotism in the hearts of all countrymen”. Born on December 3, 1889, in Medinipur, now Paschim Medinipur in West Bengal, Bose became the youngest freedom fighter to be hanged during British rule. Bose was sentenced to death following an attempt to assassinate British judge and Muzaffarpur magistrate Douglas Kingsford. He and fellow revolutionary Prafulla Chaki threw bombs at a carriage they believed was carrying Kingsford, but the attack resulted in the deaths of two British women. Chaki later shot himself fatally before he could be arrested, while Bose was captured and sentenced to death. His execution at such a young age turned him into an enduring figure of sacrifice in India’s independence movement. More than a century later, his courage continues to be remembered as part of the nation’s history and the struggle against British rule.
